Have a prescription?

Get paid back for wearing them.

Medical compression is covered by many extended health plans when a physician prescribes it. Get a prescription, buy from us, submit your receipt, and your insurer pays you back. Depending on your plan, your socks could cost you nothing.

  1. 1

    See your doctor

If you have leg aches, swelling, varicose veins, long days on your feet or long flights, ask whether medical compression is right for you and request a prescription for 10–20 mmHg compression socks.

  2. 2

    Order SUGAR SILK

Choose our Silver Yarn 10–20 mmHg sock. Your receipt lists the product and compression level.

  3. 3

    Submit your claim

Send your prescription and receipt to your insurer through their app or claim form.

  4. 4

    Get reimbursed

Your insurer deposits the eligible amount back to you, often within days.

What your insurer will ask for

  • A prescription from a physician (some plans accept a nurse practitioner) naming medical compression stockings and the compression level in mmHg.
  • Your itemized SUGAR SILK receipt showing product, compression level and amount paid.
  • Your plan's claim form or a claim submitted through your insurer's app.
  • Pre-authorization, if your plan requires it.

Before you buy

  • Call your insurer or check your benefits booklet for the minimum compression level they cover and your annual limit.
  • Ask your doctor which compression level is right for you. Only a clinician can decide whether compression is appropriate.
  • Keep your prescription. Many plans accept one prescription for 12 months of purchases.
  • FSA/HSA (US) and Health Spending Accounts (Canada) can also be used where eligible.
